A driver of a SUV was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries from a head on collision.  A driver of a Ford Mustang on Judson Road, crossed over into oncoming traffic hitting the SUV head on.  The accident was investigated by Longview PD.

462 people died in Texas in 2009 because one of the cars could not stay in a single lane.

A woman was killed when she tried to cross State Highway 121 in Grapevine, Texas.  The accident happened at 3:30 a.m. near Bass Pro Drive.  Police identified the woman as between 25 and 30 years old.  She was hit after she left her vehicle on the northbound service road and was pronounced dead the scene.  The highway was closed until 7:30 a.m.

In 2009, there were 46 people killed and 6551 seriously injured in pedestrian accidents in Texas.

Outcome: Driver killed.

A woman from Athens, Texas was killed when her 2008 Chevy Aveo swerved off State Highway 334 in Gun Barrel City at around 11:44 a.m.   Once the car left the roadway, it hit a tree and rolled over three or four times.  The driver was dead at the scene and a autopsy was ordered .   The driver’s name was Nakita Lynn Baldwin.  Investigating officers have no idea what happened. 

A witness said there was nothing near the car to cause it to leave the road and there was no evidence of braking or skid marks.

In 2009, there were 441 people killed and 15,271 seriously injured in rollover accidents in Texas.  In 2009, 19 people died and 209 were seriously injured in accidents in Athens and Henderson County, Texas

Justin Armstrong, 19, of Cedar Hill, Texas was killed in single motorcycle accident on State Highway 360 in Arlington, Texas.  Mr. Armstrong was speeding on Highway 360 near I-20 interchange after 11 p.m.  He hit the guardrail, was ejected from his motorcycle, and was declared dead at the scene.  Two other vehicles had accidents from this accident but there were no more injuries. 

In 2009, there were 4371 serious injury causing vehicle accidents in Fort Worth and Tarrant County, Texas. In this same year, 46 people were killed in wrongful death car accidents in Fort Worth & Tarrant County, Texas. 432 motorcyclists were killed in Texas in 2009, 60% of which were not wearing helmets. 2688 reeeived serious personal injuries while on the motorcyle but not wearing a helmet.

Richard Rowe, 58, from Fort Worth, Texas died July 18, 2011 from a July 2, 2011 single motorcycle accident.  Rowe was speeding, lost control of his motorcycle, and hit a parked car.  He was wearing a helmet but died from blunt force head trauma at a local hospital.

In 2009, there were 4371 serious injury causing vehicle accidents in Fort Worth and Tarrant County, Texas. In this same year, 46 people were killed in wrongful death car accidents in Fort Worth & Tarrant County, Texas.  In the State of Texas, there were 3089 deaths from vehicle accidents and 59,164 serious personal injuries from vehicle accidents.   432 motorcyclists were killed in Texas in 2009, 60% of which were not wearing helmets.

Type: Hit and Run car accident and broken streetlights

Outcome: Passenger killed.

Non-working streetlights are a reason why a woman died in a hit and run accident in East Dallas.  Yolanda Guzman, 38, died at the hospital.  The driver of the vehicle, Rafael Valdovinos, suffered a broken hip and torn aorta.  Dallas PD says all electricity was out in the area at the time of the accident.  The pickup that hit Ms. Guzman and Mr. Valdovinos left the scene.  The pickup is gray with a black grille.

The accident happened at the intersection of Ferguson Road and Joaquin,  City of Dallas technicians were working on other non-working street lights at the time of accident.  Four other street lights were fixed before the City of Dallas fixed this street light, which was completed at 9:30 p.m.  A call to fix this light was sent by Dallas PD to City of Dallas at 5:50 p.m.

A hit and run accident injured a Richardson child who was driving his go-cart.  The accident happened at the intersection of Twilight Trail and Floyd Road in Richardson, Texas after 5p.m.  The child was driving the go-cart on the sidewalk when he was struck by an SUV who left the scene.

The child was taken to Children’s Medical Center Dallas, where he is in serious condition.  Richardson PD is investigating the case and is looking for leads to indentify the hit and run driver.   The SUV was driven by a woman with a white dog and might be black or dark blue.

Kaufman County ATV Four Wheeler Accident Kills Mother and Seriously Injures Her Child

Outcome: Mother/driver killed and passenger/son receives serious personal injuries

A mother driving an ATV four wheeler was killed and her son received serious personal injuries.  These people are from Greenville, Texas.  The mother’s name is Wendy Moore and her son was Daniel Peralez.  The accident happened on CR 141 in Kaufman County, Texas between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.  At the intersection of CR 141 and Abner Road, between Kaufman and Terrell, the four wheeler could not control a turn and hit a tree.  A witness say the child asking for help and called 911 around 5:15 a.m.

The mother was ejected and died at the scene.  The son was airlifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.  Texas DPS could not explain why these people were driving the four wheeler on CR 141 overnight.

In 2008-09, there were 992 reported deaths from ATV accidents in the United States.  There were 267,000 emergency room treated injuries.  For children under age 16, there were 16 deaths in 2009 and 32,400 emergency room visits for injuries

To avoid four or three wheeler ATV accidents, it is recommended drivers get trained, everyone wears a helmet, no children should operate adult ATVs, there should not more than 1 person on an ATV, and there should be no riding on pavement or under influence of drugs or alcohol.

In Texas, there were 482 ATV deaths from 1982 to 2009, which included 131 deaths involving children under the age of 16.  In Texas all four wheeler ATV owners must apply for a title, register the ATV annually, and no passengers are allowed on ATVs on public lands unless the ATV is equipped to carry passengers.  Four wheeler ATV use on public streets is against the law unless the ATV is crossing the street for farming purposes.   All operators under 14 must be accompanied by an adult and no ATVs on public lands may be used 1/2 hour after sunset or 1/2 hour before sunrise unless that is tail and headlights in operation.

A driver was killed in a one car accident in the early morning on North Central Expressway @ Knox-Henderson.   Dallas PD said the driver was going fast, lost control and hit a tree.  The driver died at the scene and a passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

In 2009, there were 161 wrongful death car accidents and 5721 serious injury causing car accidents in Dallas and Dallas County, Texas. Outcome: Pedestrian killed.

Benancio Herrera, a 70 year old man, was died from being hit by a car on the 300 block of Riverside Drive.  Fort Worth EMS and Fire Department told Fort Worth PD that the injuries led them to believe a car had hit Mr. Herrera.  When Fort Worth police arrived, Mr. Herrera was inside an ambulance and was unreponsive from a broken arm and could not provide accident information.

A witness stated Mr. Herrera was visiting a friend about 6p.m. and left his friend’s house to go to a store across the street.   Mr. Herrera was taken to John Peter Smith hospital with a head injury and broken arm.  He was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m.  The cause of death is blunt force head trauma caused by motor vehicle pedestrian accident.
